This winter we have a very special announcement – we have a HUGE set of antlers which are up for grabs!
We’ve often ended up keeping the antlers from some reindeer in the herd, in particular those that grow the biggest antlers. Once sold, we can never get them back, so a certain amount of caution in selling any is wise – we don’t want to shoot ourselves in the foot and lose ones we should have kept! Crann (2003 – 2017) holds the record for the biggest set of antlers ever in our herd, but the pretender to the crown lately has been Sherlock, growing enormous antlers right from the beginning, and we have kept all his pairs from age two onwards. We’ve always said we’ll not sell any as we did initially think Sherlock may beat Crann’s record, but it’s now become apparent that the crown will not be toppled just yet.
So… drum roll… after years of saying we’ll never sell any of Sherlock’s antlers we’ve finally decided that it’s time to do so. Both so one lucky person can get their hands on a pair, and also as a fundraiser towards kitting out the new Centre. We’ve selected Sherlock’s pair from 2022 which, whilst not his very biggest, by general opinion are the most shapely set that he has grown, and weigh in at about 5kg.
Rather than just put a price tag on the antlers, the sale will be done in the form of a prize draw with tickets costing £10. You are welcome to purchase as many as you like, and we will draw a winner on 31st December 2024. Unfortunately we can’t post antlers abroad so this does limit tickets to UK residents only – huge apologies to anyone living overseas. We will include postage/delivery in the ticket price (though we’ll be delighted if you can collect!), so this is a mega chance to get your hands on an incredible set of antlers for a princely sum of £10! If we were to sell them ‘normally’, we’d probably price them around £300.
Having offered a big set of bull antlers as a prize to the general public during our Crowdfunder back in the summer, this prize draw is instead only open to adopters – you will need to enter your ID/membership number to buy a ticket (email us if you can’t remember it and we’ll look it up). If you’re not an adopter but fancy your chances, of course this is a perfect time to adopt!
